Introducing monthly Rapid-Fire Tournaments

2023 has been a great year for ARMA with the continuation of online club nights, ARMA Team League, qualifier and participation in IORMC, running our first All Stars Invitational and running our second IRL Australian Riichi Mahjong Open (ARMO). There has also been a huge surge in the Riichi community in Perth. We would like to continue growing the Australian Riichi community and providing opportunities for players to connect, play, and compete. From our 2023 census, we have received feedback from players wanting more events to play and compete against each other.

In 2024, ARMA will be running a new tournament format, Rapid-Fire Tournaments! These tournaments will be held online on Tenhou and consists of 10 monthly tournaments between January-October to qualify for a final in November.

In each monthly tournament, players will first play a 3 hanchan preliminary stage. The top 4 players from this stage will qualify to a playoff and play a single hanchan. Placing 1st/2nd/3rd/4th in a playoff will earn you 5/3/2/1 points. The player who placed 1st in the preliminary stage will also earn 1 additional point. The top 4 players with the most points at the end of October will qualify for a 3 hanchan final in November.

The rules will be WRC 2022 rules modified with red fives and 30/10 uma. For more info, click here.

The winner of the final in November will have their entry fee to ARMO2024 waived or receive an equivalent amount as a gift voucher.

The Rapid-Fire Tournament for January will be held on Sunday 28th January from 7-11pm AEDT. Registrations will close at 11:59pm AEDT on Sunday 21st January. To register, please follow this link:
